The Origins of Musical and Pedagogical Education in the Culture of the Ancient World

Abstract

The article examines the sources of development of musical-pedagogical education during the period of Ancient Greece and Rome. The author draws our attention to the fact that the main goal of musicalpedagogical education of that time was the self-determination of personality, visibility, consistency during the process of education and a concentric placement of the material. The basis for further development of the discipline of musical pedagogy became the stance that education and upbringing should correlate with the nature of the child’s soul.
